Spaulding Electric Awarded for Helping Customers Save Energy, Money

Brookfield – Spaulding Electric received an Energy Efficiency Excellence Award on Tuesday for its work this past year helping other small businesses save energy and money.

Spaulding Electric, a customer of We Energies and a Focus on Energy Trade Ally contractor, was nominated for the award by David Nyquest, an energy advisor with Focus on Energy.

“You’re one that came to mind right away,” Nyquist told owner Robb Spaulding at the award ceremony. “You’re just…a company that’s really embraced the program.”

Spaulding Electric is based in Sheboygan Falls but does work across southeastern Wisconsin. Spaulding accepted the award at Acura of Brookfield, where his company has worked on multiple lighting projects that include the installment of LED lights in the car dealership’s maintenance and repair shop. Acura of Brookfield’s General Manager, Mike Baker, says that the work helped the dealership earn recognition with an Acura Environmental Leadership Award.

“I still think that every Focus on Energy program—small business [programs], anyway—we call them no-brainers for the owners,” Spaulding said after accepting the award. “It’s just a matter [of] if they have the capital to do it.”
Spaulding Electric’s projects over the past year will save enough energy to power about 370 homes with electricity for a year, according to numbers from Focus on Energy.

Jolene Sheil with the Wisconsin Public Service Commission presented the award to Spaulding and recognized We Energies, which serves much of the area where Spaulding does business.

“Focus on Energy is not possible without the contributions from the utilities,” Sheil said. “They’re the ones that fund the program and give us the dollars so that we can do things like we are today.”

Focus on Energy is working with utility companies across the state to present 16 Energy Efficiency Excellence Awards to outstanding businesses, schools and institutions that have made outstanding strides towards energy efficiency.

A recent evaluation report found every $1 invested in Focus on Energy programs creates $5.93 in benefits for Wisconsin, including economic benefits, reduced energy costs, and reduced pollution.
