Lower energy bills thanks to efficient lighting is music to the ears of a New Berlin music store.

Lighting throughout the Cascio’s Interstate Music was recently upgraded thanks to an incentive from Focus on Energy, Wisconsin’s energy efficiency and renewable energy program.

“We believe the improvements and consistency in lighting throughout our store provides our shoppers with an enhanced customer experience, and better displays our product offerings, whether it be $6 drumsticks or $4,000 guitars,” said Michael Houser, Chief Executive Officer for Cascio Music Company, Inc.

The store’s lighting at is a diverse repertoire of track lighting, high bays, sconces and T12 fixtures, found throughout the main store, warehouse, basement, offices, hallways, storage, sheet music and practice rooms, as well as guitar, drum and stage areas.

All were upgraded with efficient LED (light emitting diode) fixtures by CJM Lighting, made possible through a $9,463 incentive from Focus on Energy.

Since 2001, Focus on Energy information, resources and financial incentives have helped to implement projects that otherwise would not get completed, or to complete projects sooner than scheduled.

“We are very pleased with the Focus on Energy program for our business,” Houser said. “The process caused us to look at lighting throughout our retail store as well as our headquarters to help us focus on a better and more consistent lighting plan for our customers and employees.”

“We know the (customer) experience is better and we will be saving considerable dollars throughout the years,” Houser said of the project expected to lower electric costs by nearly 35 percent by conserving an estimated 126,380 kilowatt hours in the first year.
